Musculoskeletal physiotherapy

What is Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy

Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy involves the thorough assessment, treatment and management of the aches and pains arising from muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and/or the nervous system.

It is a specialised area within physiotherapy that focuses on accurate assessment, diagnosis and treatment using the skilled application of tailored techniques, advanced clinical reasoning, treatment plans and appropriate and individual exercise prescription.

Back pain, neck pain, disc injuries, frozen shoulders, tendonitis, tennis elbow, knee arthritis, sprained ankles, sports injuries, muscle tears etc, these all come under the umbrella of musculoskeletal Physiotherapy.

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is ideal if you’re enduring a difficult underlying condition. Our physiotherapists apply advanced assessment practices and broader treatment techniques to restore function and move affected areas, identifying contributing factors to help in prevention as well as treatment

Physiotherapy Treatment

Our dedicated Physiotherapists use predominantly hands-on therapy and specifically indicated exercises for your condition. Knowledgeable advice and education are a fundamental part of our approach to helping you get back to normal activities.

Our manual techniques are non-invasive and address the presenting problems of the musculoskeletal system that are causing your pain, stiffness and weakness. We address both acute and more chronic conditions, those from trauma, overuse or disease.

Your overall treatment and rehabilitation can also include other forms of therapy as suggested by your Physio. Dry needling, TENS, Ultrasound therapy, orthotics, taping and wax baths are just a few of the complimentary treatments used by our hands on musculoskeletal physiotherapists.

Home exercises, when indicated, are also an important part of the rehabilitation process because they can greatly extend the benefits of each treatment. Our physiotherapists will advise you on a programme that’s right for you.
